The main focus of Al-Thuraya is to contribute in improving the live and well-being of vulnerable groups and peoples in rural and urban areas, farmers, rural peoples and in conflict internal displaced persons (IDPs).

Our Mission

To initiate and support micro and macro level changes in different economic sectors by providing expertise and solutions for our clients to address their major livelihood concerns relating to farm production, environment sustainability, rural development, climate change and economic growth.

Since its established in March 2006 Al-Thuraya consulting is working in Yemen in the fields of conducting feasibility Studies, Needs Assessments, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEAL).

Al-Thuraya has a network of offices, partners and coordinators across Yemen, and has access and full operational capacity in all governorates of Yemen. Al-Thuraya possesses of experts with long years of experience in Yemen with the ability and training to use relevant technologies and work in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Al-Thuraya opened branches and currently works with partners in the most main cities of Yemen like Aden, Taiz, Abyan, Hadramout, Marib, Hajjah, Lahj, Al-Hudaidah and Sadda. The firm is planning to play a regional role by expanding its services to east Africa (Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti etc).

Objectives

• Supervising and technical support to International and National NGOs in the food security, livelihood and agricultural activities;
• Contribute to humanitarian activities including vulnerable Households and IDPs;

• Protections of women and children against domestic and community violence.

• Carrying out of surveys, data collection and technical studies;
• Monitoring and evaluation of joint projects and humanitarian activities;
• Preparation, moderation and documentation of workshops, round table discussions, conferences and symposia;
• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of agriculture and water management projects;
• Training courses for capacity building of farmers and rural communities.
• Translation of technical papers and reports.
• Selection, registration and verification of beneficiaries supposed to be supported by humanitarian organization according to fixed approved criteria;
• Training courses and capacity building of farmers and rural people;
• Water harvesting, integrated water resources management and participatory processes in forming of Water User Groups (WUGs) and Water User Associations (WUAs);
• Plant and stored product protection including Integrated Pest Management (IPM);
• Supervising of grain, fruit, vegetable and seed production;
• Livestock production, forage and nutrition;
• Use of nurseries for production of vegetables and seedlings for vegitable, fruits, forestry and indoor plants.
• Promote the Farmer Field Schools (FFS).
• Supervising and check of animal, bee colonies and other agricultural equipment delivered by contractors in frameworks of tendering basis;

Al-Thuraya possesses of experienced technical experts who have delivered numerous activities in different sector across Yemen, and who have intimate knowledges of the situation in all governorates of Yemen. Our experts have delivered services for several local and international organizations, having a track-record with UN agencies, as well as government ministries and international organizations.

Moreover, Al-Thuraya has gained in the past 20 Years the following specific field experiences:

• Al-Thuraya has conducted field activities for several local and international organization such as the FAO, the WFP, the KFW, the Smeps, the SFD, the Yemen Microfinance Network (YMN), the Relief International (RI), Save the Children (SC), the GIZ, the Global Environmental Facility (GEF); the Vision Hope International (VHI), the Solidarities International (SI), ADRA etc.
• Long experience in preparation, moderation and documentation of workshops, round table discussions, conferences and symposia;
• Excellent record in training courses for capacity building in rural and urban areas;
• Giving technical support to national and international NGOs working in virous humanitarian and development sectors;
• Recommendation of technical specialists and trainer responding to requests from national and international foundations.
• Excellent cooperation and familiarity with regulations at governorate and districts levels in all governorates of Yemen including good contact with local authorities, governor deputies and general managers at districts levels;
• Al-Thuraya has a demonstrated ability to negotiate access at community levels throughout the different districts of Yemen;
• For certain activities Al-Thuraya selects very high experienced Key experts with excellent educational backgrounds and experiences with UN organization in similar assignments;
