Home Gardens

The importance of a home garden lies in its role as a significant source of income for the family by providing some of their food needs, selling the surplus to cover other requirements, or using the excess for food processing like making pickles. Producing vegetables in a home garden can also be a hobby for all family members, whether in planting and caring for the plants or in preserving and marketing the surplus.

Althuraya for Consulting and Training implements training and awareness activities with partners to impart the following skills:

  • Supporting beneficiaries with tools to prepare the garden, such as (shovels, rakes, spades, water tanks, irrigation hoses, and taps).
  • Assisting beneficiaries in setting up a garden fence to protect crops from poultry and animals.
  • Providing beneficiaries with improved vegetable seeds and local tomato seeds.
  • Guiding beneficiaries on seed planting and transplanting techniques.
  • Providing follow-up, advice, and technical guidance to beneficiaries during crop growth and at harvest.
